Emma & Alex- an Elopement at Kilkea Castle

The couple

Ireland is a romantic land of mystery and dreams. Our landscape is marked by rolling hills, vibrant green patchwork fields and ancient castles. We boast a wild beauty quite unlike anywhere else on earth so it’s no wonder lots of couples choose Ireland to create their own fairy-tale weddings. On a sunny day in September, Emma and Alex, along with 30 of their closest family and friends, eloped from the US to the romantic setting of Kilkea Castle in Kildare for their own happily-ever-after. It was such an honour to be asked to flower their special day.

The wedding

I just loved that their wedding style was both formal and relaxed. Their choices of EVERYTHING were stunning. Aoife at Blue Blossom Creative planned and executed every little detail with an outstanding level of style. What a gorgeous setting for a wedding ceremony, on the lawn over-looking the stately castle in the background. In fact, the Indian Summer sunshine and blue skies almost stole the show! For their ceremony, we created a low floral meadow to encircle them. We chose tall garden flowers such as delphinium and raspberry leaf, scented stock and garden mint, cosmos, garden roses and lisianthus. We then used these flowers to decorate the room for dinner as well as the room for dancing later in the evening. After the ceremony, the guests relaxed on the terrace with a champagne reception and traditional irish music to entertain.
