About us

The face behind the business…. My name is Brigid Riley, the founder of Fernwood Flowers. I lived in the US for many years, where I worked in weddings & events in the Washington DC area. When my husband and I moved back to Ireland, we wanted to give our children a rural upbringing where they could grow up slowly. To do this, I knew I would need to start my own business. I had a vision for a style of floristry that took inspiration from garden- gathered flowers… abundant and romantic and inspired by the seasons and so Fernwood Flowers was born!

FAQ

What areas do you cover? Do you travel for weddings?

We are based in Oldcastle Co Meath and will happily travel 2 hours in any direction for a wedding. Travel beyond this area is available but requires an overnight stay- please enquire for more details.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking 12 months in advance, especially for peak wedding season. Popular dates can book quickly, so the earlier the better. Our diary is typically open up to 18 months in advance.

How does the enquiry process work?

Start by filling out our enquiry form so we can check availability for your wedding date. If we’re a good fit, we’ll arrange a phone or video call to talk through your ideas, inspiration, and what matters most to you. After our call, we’ll create a custom quote by email for review.

What do you require to secure my booking?

If you’re happy with the initial quote after our consultation, we will send you a contract and a link to pay the €200 deposit. Your date isn’t secured until we have both of those things. Once your date is reserved for your special day, we’ll create a custom floral proposal. We’ll keep in touch as your wedding approaches to finalise details and quantities.

Can we make changes after booking?

Yes, changes can be made up to 4 weeks before the wedding.

Do you have a minimum spend?

Wedding floral budgets vary widely based on size, style, and flower choices. The majority of our couples will invest at least €5,000 but we do have a €2,500 minimum to book with us. This allows us to provide the level of styling, sourcing, and service our couples expect.

Do you offer wedding flower packages?

We don’t offer set packages for weddings because every wedding is unique so each one has different requirements but we work directly with you to plan the best placement of flowers for maximum wow- factor throughout your day.

Is delivery and setup included?

Delivery, setup, and breakdown are included / listed separately in your proposal for transparency. We are with you all day from the morning of the wedding until dinner call to move flowers in between ceremony and reception and we come back the next morning to collect our rental items.

Can we take our flowers home after the wedding?

Yes! You’re welcome to take personal and table flowers home the next day. We will leave them packaged for you when we come back to collect our rental items after your big day.

Do you have liability insurance?

Yes we are fully insured. Upon booking with us please let us know if your venue requires our certificate and we will send it right over!

Do you charge VAT (sales tax)?

Yes, we are required to charge VAT at 13.5%.

Do you create sample arrangements so we can see what the flowers would look like ahead of time?

No. We work with seasonal flowers, some of which are only in season for a few weeks of the year. It’s very difficult to offer examples at other times of the year as those flowers will not properly reflect what your flowers will look like on the day. Our clients chose us because they love the work we have done in the past and they trust us to deliver flowers they will adore.

Can you work with my inspiration photos or Pinterest board?

Absolutely. Inspiration photos help us understand your style and what you want from your floral arrangements. We don’t copy other florists exactly, but we create a custom look inspired by your vision the bride, bridal party and groom and groomsmen. We are happy to take inspiration from the latest trends to interpret the bride and grooms style and suit the venue décor.

What floral styles do you specialize in?

Our signature style is garden-inspired, modern and romantic, but we love tailoring our work to reflect each couple’s personality whether it is rustic or elegant, we can help.

Can you help us choose flowers if we don’t know what we want?

Of course! This is exactly what we’re here for. We’ll guide you through flower choices, colours, and textures. We work with seasonal blooms for the freshest look and best value. We try and keep it locally sourced when possible.
